Chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressman Kucinich is one of the few vegans in Congress. Rep. Kucinich ran for President in the 2004 election under the Democratic Party. He lost the Jan-Feb Primaries, coming up second to John Kerry in Hawaii (26%), Alaska (26%), Kansas (10%) and Wyoming (6%).
Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Kucinich served as an Ohio state senator and mayor of Cleveland. He won the mayoral race at age 31, becoming the youngest mayor elected to lead a major American city. He has lobbied for human rights, worker rights, and the environment, and is an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq and the policies of the World Trade Organization.
